Not Enough Fun

I think we all know those times where we really just need things to work out. This happened for me a few weeks ago. I really wanted to make pupusas for my boyfriend. It was my second attempt to make these things work out. For those of you that don't know, it's a stuffed tortilla with a salsa and salad on top. They are supposed to look something like this.
This time, I finally got the filling mostly right and the salad was pretty good but the salsa had a weird texture, flavor, and color. I couldn't get the pupusas to roll out the way they were supposed to and I was getting really frustrated that after 3 hours of cooking, I still couldn't get it quite right. When I rolled one out to have it fall apart, I just groaned in frustration as my boyfriend joked about frying it up anyway. As I was checking the recipe one more time he told me, "Corinne, you're not have nearly enough fun right now." This woke me up a little. I wasn't having enough fun. I was getting so caught up in all the little things that were going wrong, I forgot to appreciate the fact that I had improved from the first time. And I was having a lot of fun cooking with him. After that, I laughed a little more and tried my best to have fun. We figured out how to roll them out and didn't have any more huge mistakes. Even though I couldn't get it perfect, I learned that it's all good. It worked out well in the end and I was able to have a lot of fun.

Things won't always work out the way we want them to, especially with cooking. And that is completely okay. Just roll with the mistakes and they'll turn out in the end. If they don't, then at least you had fun and you can laugh about it later. It's a lot easier to laugh about it if you remember that it was fun. And hey, if it fails, then at least you'll have a good story, right?

Fresh Start

My name is Corinne Arnold. So, I've had a blog for a few years and really have not done much with it. Now I'm going to try and actually do something. I can't guarantee how frequently I'll post. And I don't want this to be all about me. But I do want to show that life is good, it's fun and it's great no matter what happens.

For a long time, little things stressed me out a lot more than they should have. That had to stop. I had to start having fun. Since trying to make that a part of my life, my life has just been so much better. This blog shows my progress from sweating the small stuff to having fun and enjoying life as much as I possibly can.

To start this off, here are parts of the poem that inspired my blog title.

One fish, two fish. Red fish. Blue fish.

Say! What a lot
of fish there are.

Some are thin. And some are fat.
The fat one has a yellow hat.

From there to here, from here to there,
funny things are everywhere.

We see them come. We see them go.

Some are fast. And some are slow.
Some are high. And some are low.

Not one of them is like another.

Did you ever fly a kite in bed?

Did you ever walk with ten cats on your head?

Did you ever milk this kind of cow?
Well, we can do it. We know how.

If you never did, you should.
These things are fun and fun is good.

Today is gone. Today was fun.
Tomorrow is another one.
Every day,
from here to there,
funny things are everywhere.

There is fun to be had in every situation. And I intend to find it.
